about

Niko's guitar and production approach on his 2013 album
Banshees and Harpsichords depicts sonic landscapes reminiscent
of a dark, modern and edgy Treznor-esque film soundtrack.

The album continues the stylistic direction of the 2011's three track
EP "Nix Hydra" (which is included in the track listing of Banshees and
Harpsichords) steering away and beyond the more bluesy-sounding debut
album "Black Feather" (2008). The 2011 EP Nix Hydra is included in the album listing.

With Tsonev at the production helm and playing all instruments on the record,
the idea behind “Banshees and Harpsichords” was to explore
the voices of modern guitar-Banshees incarnating the heavy, glitchy,
distorted and intentionally "ugly" guitar sounds and stylistics.
Harpsichords on the other hand is the methaphor for lyrical
beauty and near-vocal expression found in Niko's guitar melodies.

The song Acid Tears features the amazingly talented Grog from the
British alternative band Die So Fluid on vocals.
On the title track Banshees and Harpsichords the call of Niko's guitar
is answered by the soaring jazz violin work of Samy Bishai.

With elements of progressive rock, djent, jazz fusion and classical
impressionism brought forward from Tsonev's previous works, this record
breaks new grounds in terms of sonics and pure guitar creativity.
